TANZANIA ON THE FOOTBALLING MAP!

08 June 2010 19:39

The sporting event we have all been waiting for Africa to host is nearly here. No not the World Cup but Tanzania vs Brazil to take place on June 7th at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

What was once only a dream for the likes of Safder and MKB of Ikhwaan (a club currently playing in the 2nd tier of the SJ League) is now becoming a reality as the greatest football team in the world will play a team ranked 108th.

Rumours are rife that the Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF) has paid approximately $2m to Brazil as an appearance fee but this is being denied. Instead it is believed that the Khoja Africa Federation has stumped up the cash and will be hosting an exclusive dinner for both teams at Boarding House.

VIP tickets for the match went on sale at the mosque on Indira Ghandi Street and sold out within minutes. Standard tickets on the ‘get jacked’ stand are still available.

Former Tanzanian legend Mohammed Sadiq Mandan (MSM) said ‘This is a dream come true for my country. I’m flying back on Sunday to be a part of what will forever be a part of Tanzania’s football history’.

African gangster Akilo will be providing jafferys.org with the match report and had the following to say ‘I am part of the official media for the match and will be with the Brazil team when they land, when they train, when they play and when they leave. If I’m lucky I will also try and smuggle myself into their suitcases and get to South Africa’.

For fans in the UK the match is expected to be broadcast live but as yet no channel has bid for the rights. As a worst case scenario Akilo has paid someone to hold a webcam during the match which will show the game live on jafferys.org

No doubts this event will be less about the match but more about which Tansra will pay the most cash to have the Brazilian team at his house for Dinner. However, in my view the biggest coup that can come out of this is if a Brazilian player needs medical treatment they get taken to Ibrahim Haji Dispensary!

The worst loss ever suffered by Tanzania was a 7-nil drubbing by Ethiopia on October 8, 1969 when one famous Rafik Ramjee stood between the sticks (goal posts not Ethiopian players). Let us hope this record remains in tact!

For those interested in watching the match live in Dar es Salaam, Khalil Crooxton is doing a special all inclusive package that includes air fare, luxurious stay at the newly renovated musafar khana, match ticket and special day excursion to Karyako with the legendary Rajwani brothers as tour guides. All interested should contact him by Friday as seats are selling fast.
