SJL Premiership Game Rules 1) All matches will be 50 minutes long, 25 minutes each half.
2) There must be a minimum of 4 players (1 goalkeeper and 3 outfield players) for a match to be deemed playable at kick-off. If this is not the case, then for every 10 minute increment the opposition is late, the opposing team will gain a 3 goal start at kick-off. Therefore as an example, if the opposition turns up 30 minutes late, this will lead to a 9-0 start by the opposition with a reduced match time.
3) If an opposing team fails to turn up at all, a 10-0 victory is given to the opposition.
4) If at any time there are fewer than 3 players on the pitch (including the goalkeeper) the match will be abandoned resulting in the matter being referred to the admin to take any action they deem necessary.
5) The referee should check all players on the pitch are registered with the admin against the latest squad list provided by the admin, before each match.
6) Unlimited roll-on roll off subs will be allowedand a team is also allowed to bring the full squad to each game. Substitutions must be done by notifying the referee every time.
7) A foul committed by any player deemed to be the "last man" by the referee and which is deemed by the referee as denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity will result in a penalty.
8) A team-mate receiving the ball from the keeper may not return the ball directly to him -the ball must first be touched by another player. A penalty will be awarded to the opposing team in such an event. However passes directly off the side-boards (not back-boards)to the keeper ARE allowed.
9) No high balls are allowed UNLESS if it is off the keeper. If the keeper deliberately kicks the ball high, this should result in a free kick to the opposition. The free kick should be 1 yard from the edge of the centre of the D-area. This then allows any "wall" that the opposition may want to form to stand on the D-line and no closer.
10) Judging a “high ball” is at the referee’s discretion. All free-kicks resulting from a high-ball must be in- direct.
11) NO SLIDE TACKLES are permitted. A sliding block is also not tobe allowed and hence a free-kick should result. If however the referee decides that the player lost balance then no foul needs to be awarded.
12) A penalty will result if a defending player enters his own D-area or the goalkeeper exits his D-area. A free kick to the goalkeeper will result if the striking player enters the D.
13) Yellow and red cards will be available for the referee to use at his discretion. A red card will result in a player being sin-binned for a period of 5 minutes or a sending off forthe entire game if the referee deems it necessary in cases of extreme misconduct.
14) No screw in studded footwear or blades are permitted to be worn by any player.
15) Players must stand at least 1 yard away when a free kick is being taken.
16) Penalising for serious foul play is at the referees discretion.
17) All teams should have a fixed home colour to avoid kit clashes. In the case of a kit clash the designated home team will get priority over the kit colour worn at their matches.
